With Jupiter having recently entered the sign of Capricorn, where it will stay until December 19, 2020, in addition to Uranus’ final move into Taurus, where it’ll be until 2026, the energy has become (and will continue to become) much “earthier” or materialistic in terms of the Change we want to make.
While Uranus previously occupied the sign of Aries (Fire) for many years, it made its final steps into Taurus (Earth) in May 2019, with Jupiter moving from its home sign of Sagittarius (Fire) into Capricorn (Earth) on December 2, 2019. With both Uranus and Jupiter moving from Fire signs Aries and Sagittarius into Earth signs Taurus and Capricorn, respectively, the tone has shifted to more material concerns and methods for making our lives run smoothly in a practical sense.
On December 15, 2019, Jupiter @ 2°56’ Capricorn forms a perfect trine aspect to Uranus @ 2°56’ of Taurus. While this is the only exact hit of this transit, its effect is made stronger by Uranus’ slowdown in the sign of Taurus, as it’s set to turn stationary direct on January 10, 2020—the same day as the Lunar Eclipse in Cancer—at 2°56’ of Taurus. This means that Jupiter’s trine to Uranus in Taurus has an unusually long effect, its energy hanging in the air, so to speak, for all of December 2019 through January 2020.
And this is a good thing. In fact, Jupiter trine Uranus “is one of the most fortunate aspects from a worldly point of view,” inspiring us to make changes eagerly rather than out of fear or insecurity. Jupiter-Uranus combinations open us up to less traditional means of getting where we want to go, opening our minds to new people and unexpected events that encourage the mobilization of extraordinary endeavors. Jupiter-Uranus in supportive aspect to one another signals a speedy shift in our belief systems, pushing us to explore new paths to success.
We could leverage our success now, taking a calculated financial risk that’ll be profitable in a long-term. We’re intuitive yet practical, which is a good combination for a financial gamble, as our perception of what constitutes a safe bet undergoes radical transformation in more than one area of life.
While 2019 may’ve felt like we were lost in a Fantasy of Fire signs, pursuing our passions at all costs without regard for the material expense or long-term consequences, 2020 gives us a much-needed lens of practicality in terms of how to pursue these passions of ours while maintaining expectations that are both clearer and more realistic. In other words, 2020 is the year to take the lessons learned from bubbles burst as a result of the Jupiter-Neptune Square and Fire-heaviness of 2019, instead approaching our passions and desires with more patience, logic and detachment.
Those with many planets in Earth signs will feel this change on a palpable level, as will those with Fire-heavy charts, albeit in opposite effect. Fire signs, who feed off of their natural enthusiasm and inspiration may be finding it challenging to tap into now, for example. Earth signs, on the other hand, may be feeling uncomfortable or less like themselves but will find themselves thinking less in glass half-empty terms and more able to envision the positivity change can bring—something Fire signs can usually do on a dime.
